Edwin Yamil, age 22, is a cheerful and collaborative young man, known for his patience and passion for drawing, painting, and soccer. He joined EI in the 6th grade, at the age of 12. Living with his loving grandmother and younger brother, Edwin was seeking a supportive space to grow and learn, and he found exactly that at EI.

He initially joined our tutoring program to receive assistance with his homework and establish a solid academic foundation. As his confidence and skills grew, so did his desire to give back. When Edwin entered high school, he began helping the younger students as a tutor.

He quickly became a favorite tutor among the younger students. His constant smile, patience, and clear teaching style made him a key element in the tutoring program. His impact was felt not only through academics but also through the connections he built with the children he supported.

Beyond tutoring, Edwin immersed himself in many of EI’s enrichment activities, including dance, computer classes, art, cycling, and photography. His enthusiasm and commitment to learning and growing in every area of life made him a standout participant in every space he entered.

After graduating from high school in 2020, Edwin pursued a technical career to secure a stable job and support his grandmother, who had lovingly raised him and his brother. He enrolled in a four-year Industrial Chemistry program, drawn to the subject since his high school days.

In 2024, Edwin completed his degree and began an internship at Lácteos Centroamérica S.A. in 2025. Over three months, he demonstrated exceptional adaptability and responsibility. His dedication paid off when he was offered a permanent position, achieving his goal of stable employment and setting a solid foundation for continued personal and professional growth.

Edwin’s journey is a testament to what’s possible when young people are given the tools, support, and encouragement to thrive. Thank you for helping make stories like his a reality.

“It has been 12 years since I became part of this program, and I am deeply grateful for the support I received in my education. During this time, I have grown both academically and personally. By tutoring children and teenagers, I developed an interpretive learning method that allowed me to teach effectively while learning at the same time.” Edwin Yamil

Heartfelt gratitude to his sponsor, Jennifer H., for her unwavering support of his educational journey.
