Teaching Kindness Through Action

Some stories are never planned.
They simply happen... and end up changing us forever.
After attending a professional training workshop, the team was driving back to our activity center when heavy rain and thunderstorms forced us to pull over at a small city park. That unexpected stop changed everything!

While waiting, we saw a small, soaked dog running frantically through the park, frightened and chased by bigger dogs. She stopped near us, trembling, as if asking for help. We called her gently; up close, we saw she was thin, exhausted, and neglected—signs of street life.
When the rain finally eased, we knew we couldn't leave her behind. So we brought her home.
Children immediately surrounded her with gentle curiosity. "Teacher... what's her name?" The truth was, we hadn't figured that out yet. While we tried to decide, the children did what children do best. They gave her Love!
They offered her food, brought her fresh water, tried to patiently make close contact with her, and each suggested a different name. Little by little, she began to trust again.

The frightened dog revealed her true personality—a playful, energetic, and incredibly affectionate companion. The next day, she came running across the courtyard, happily wagging not just her tail but her entire body to welcome the children. One of the children burst out laughing and shouted,
"Teacher! I know what we should call her... Shakira!"
Everyone laughed.
And just like that, she became Shakira, or simply "Shaki," as everyone affectionately calls her today.

Every morning, she waits excitedly for the students to arrive, greeting them with an endlessly wagging tail. She has become one of our most unexpected teachers. Through Shaki, our students have learned that animals feel fear, joy, pain, and love, just like we do. They've learned that kindness means caring for those who depend on us.
For our staff, it became a daily reminder that education isn't only about reading, math, or technology.
It's also about shaping compassionate hearts.
