Every step carries the effort and dedication our children put into their education.

Every September, Nicaragua comes alive with patriotic celebrations. September 15 marks the anniversary of Central America’s independence from Spain, a historic occasion celebrated throughout the region. In Nicaragua, the celebrations begin one day earlier, on September 14, with the commemoration of the Battle of San Jacinto, an important moment in the country’s history.

The streets come alive with color, music, and pride. Children and young people proudly participate in parades, celebrating their country.

Some students march with special honors recognizing their academic excellence. Others proudly carry the Nicaraguan flag or other central america Flag.

Some of them participate in marching bands, playing drums and traditional instruments as the music fills the streets. 

Families, teachers, and communities come together to celebrate alongside the students, making these festivities a special moment for everyone.

These festivities are much more than a celebration. They are a recognition of the hard work behind every school year.

Behind every student marching is a year of effort, learning, and perseverance. Behind them is a mother or father who makes sure their child gets ready and goes to school each day, and a teacher who shows up in the classroom to guide, encourage, and help them move forward.

Every step is a reminder that education is a shared effort—one made possible by students, families, teachers, and the community that supports them. Thank you!
